District 18 Resident Speaks on the Hockley-Delgado Thing. Posted on Wednesday, July 21 @ 17:59:46 EDT by jfbailey

Toast of the Town! WPCNR WHITE PLAINS VOICE. July 21, 2004: A resident of District 18 weighs in on the extended Hockley-Delgado controversy over the Common Council seat that has been temporarily resolved by Mr. Delgado being appointed to the Common Council yesterday while Mr. Hockley's latest two appeals meander through the Appellate Court in Brooklyn. Here are this resident's comments:

Dear Mr. Bailey,

I would like to have the opportunity to have this posted on your site under your most recent article titled “ The Hockley Hypocrisy Temporarily Ends.”

Please pick it up from "In review of your commentary" and please post my name as you wish.

In review of your commentary on “The Hockley Hypocrisy Temporarily Ends” posted July 21, 2004, I would like to comment on your opinions and the debatable embranglement of two highly respectable men, Mr. Glen Hockley and Mr. Larry Delgado whom I have come to know personally over a flawed system of injustice.  As a bipartisan individual who voted for both candidates in the malfunctioning disputed election of the 18 District back in 2001, “We The People,” the voters of the 18 District Citizens of White Plains are the individuals whom have had the greatest injustice imposed upon us.

An injustice imposed through the inappropriate circus of decisions we’ve had to endure initially created by the incompetence of the Election Board and then followed successfully by the manipulation of our system of justice and election law by a myriad of creative legal masturbations.  Hypocrisy by those who control, manipulate and impose the hypocrisy on the voiceless voters and citizens of the 18 District.

The undisputed (Hypocrisy) fact is that Mr. Glen Hockley in 2001 was officially certified and sworn in under constitutional oath to take office and fill the seat of the Common Council of White Plains, period!  That certification bestowed upon him by the Board of Elections and the State of New York.  Mr. Hockley accepted that responsibility honestly respectfully and vowed to perform his duties committed to serve the people and city government of White Plains.  To serve on the Common Council of White Plains is a privilege and honor Mr. Hockley accepted in accordance and under the jurisprudence of State official law.  Mr. Hockley did what he was asked to do and what he was certified to do, accept the privilege to be elected into office.

Let the people and voter of White Plains not neglect to realize and understand Mr. Hockley committed no wrong here.  Let us also understand that Mr. Delgado committed no wrong either.  The wrong committed here is the injustice and incompetence of our system of voting and those who attempt to correct the wrongs after the facts. The legal system and the systems in which our legal representatives represent us with and present us with is where the fault and hypocrisy lies.  Obviously we have a failed system of injustice to remedy and rescue the incompetence of the system and find the appropriate resolution to this complex issue of election law reflecting the Hockley Delgado election.

I’m not here to pass judgment or criticize the rights and wrongs of Mr. Delgado nor am I here to do the same to Mr. Hockley.  There are those who have the eloquent talent and ability to perform that entertainment much better then I.  In all due respect to you Mr. Bailey, you disappoint me.  You levy an unfair attack on Mr. Hockley by your choice of criticisms and opinions and neglect to present the facts and facts only void of personal bias and opinions when reporting on the course of events surrounding the Hockley Delgado case.  Your talent to pass judgment is unsurpassed.  Perhaps in review of Mr. Hockley’s tenure you might select to reflect back on what Mr. Hockley has been able to achieve and accomplish in a short two and a half years.  A positive article on the man and person he is would be much more constructive and appreciated then the negativity of this case you constantly dissect repetitively and focus on.

In retrospect we can all look back pass judgments criticisms find fault with right and wrong give biased opinions and unfairly condemn Mr. Hockley as you have done Mr. Bailey in your overt attacks.  But the true fact is Mr. Hockley as well as Mr. Delgado presented their case to our defunct legal system and it was the legal system we all had to endure painfully at the expense of the voters legal rights to exercise their right to fairly and honestly choice and elect our representation to serve us, “We The People, “ the citizens of White Plains.

Moving forward, our officials in office must have one priority and one priority only.  That priority is to serve the people of White Plains and the City of White Plains in the best interest of White Plains.  It is now up to Mr. Delgado to complete that priority in the best interest for the citizens of White Plains.  I’m personally disappointed when I read statements issued by Mr. Delgado’s legal representation (Jeff Binder) of vindictiveness to seek “full restitution of wages, pension contributions and back pay,” from Mr. Hockley. It is statements like that will cost Mr. Delgado votes in the next election.  It is a personality issue of Mr. Binder, which allows us the opportunity to vote for other candidates to represent us in local government.  Let us not forget the fact that Mr. Hockley worked hard and honestly for the wages he so deservedly earned and Mr. Delgado has not since he was not in office at the time!  Let go of the anger Mr. Binder.  I look forward to Mr. Delgado’s representation and I hope Mr. Delgado can put this issue behind him and move forward in the best interest of White Plains.

We can all look back and thank the honorable Glen Hockley for his great integrity, loyalty, honesty, devotion and positive changes and reflections he has made relentlessly unselfishly serving the citizens, families, youth, city government and each and every person who has come to know him and his family in White Plains.  It will be at a great deprivation to us, the people of White Plains that we will have to endure the temporary departure of Mr. Hockley’s representation until the next election when we the people can restore what we deserve to have, the dedicated representation of Mr. Hockley representing us the people of White Plains Mr. Hockley cares and loves so much.

In Honor,

Carl Albanese
White Plains
